Cashew Chai (and Kris Carr)

IMG_5625Kris Carr is one of the individuals whose wellness revolution has truly changed my life. Discovering her book, “crazy sexy diet” was pretty much the turning point for me- not only in the way I live every day, but the way I look at the world. (If you ever do come across this blog Kris: Thank You <3)

I actually discovered Kris Carr by chance- after I had bought a nutrition book about pH (alkaline/acidic foods) – and did one of those things, “if you liked this book, than you should buy this other book, etc…” and there was something inside of me, telling me that “yes, you should buy this book,” even though I rarely buy “diet” books. Hence, I ordered the book, the book arrived, and then the book sat on my bookshelf for a good three months until one day, I had a few extra hours and decided to take a look.

I got about two pages in and that was it: something clicked inside of me and I never looked back.

I devoured “crazy sexy diet” in a week, then I re-read it over the summer, page by page, concept by concept- and then I bought her cookbook “crazy sexy kitchen” (with Whole Foods chef Chad Sarno), I watched her documentary “crazy sexy cancer,” I signed up for her newsletter and I recently, pre-ordered her latest book on juicing.

I have already tried out a few recipes from the latter (procured through her weekly newsletter) and I have to say, they were delish. Below is the recipe for the first drink I tried, Cashew Chai, and a bit of info on Kris and her journey.

Cashew Chai Milk

  • 1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 2 hours
  • ½ inch piece of ginger, peeled
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2-3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 ¼ cup filtered water

Blend all ingredients until creamy and smooth. Enjoy!
