Immune Boosting Purple Juice

IMG_5020This is me. This is me doing what I love most: playing chef/mad scientist in the kitchen.

My best friend came over in the morning and told me she was fighting a cold. Obviously, the first thing I told her was not to touch my daughter and the second, was to trust me.

I brought her into the kitchen, pulled out my favorite cold-pressing masticating juicer (info below) and made her, what I believe, is a flu-fighting, immune-boosting juice rich with raw antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and anti-inflammatory vegetables and fruits.

She evidently found the humor in the fact that she would be drinking her spinach and therefore decided to take a picture of me at work. Additionally, she couldn’t fathom why the entire thing came out a deep purple color, but she did, in fact, trust me. She drank almost the entire thing and indeed- she was cold free the next day!


Purple immune-boosting juice


  • 2 beets (washed and peeled)
  • 2 medium carrots (washed and peeled)
  • 1 large radish
  • 1 1-inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 apple (cored and sliced)


Juice and serve!

It is a masticating extractor, which works a bit slower than most commercial juicers but because it is cold presses, the fruits and veggies don’t lose their nutrients.
