Brain Booster Juice

My green juices generally consist of whatever I can find sitting around in my fridge and fruit bowl. I like to keep an 80% vegetable/20% fruit balance. Sometimes the juices come out sweeter and at other times they are bitterer. Oftentimes they are of a deep green color, occasionally they are purple and once in a while they are orange. (There are definitely some brownish juices in there too, but I tend not to post those as they can turn off any health lover experimenting with juicing.)

FullSizeRenderThis “green” juice, although bordering on a yellowish hue and not a completely deep green, was totally delightful. The ginger gave it the perfect amount of spice and the apple and fennel, a sweetness that my daughter (pictured here) obviously enjoyed.

The best part about this juice are the nutritional benefits- as a dose of mid-morning vitamins, it’s a perfect brain-healthy addition to anyone’s day:

  • 5 health benefits of cucumbers: protect your brain, reduce cancer risk, fight inflammation, reduce stress, and contain antioxidants
  • 5 health benefits of celery: reduces inflammation, aids memory, aids digestion, alkalinizes the body, contains essential good salts
  • 5 health benefits of green apple: aids digestion, lowers cholesterol, decreases chance of colon cancer, rich in antioxidants, appetite control
  • 5 health benefits of ginger: treats nausea, anti-inflammatory, improves heart disease risk factors, may lower cholesterol levels, may improve brain function and protect against Alzheimer’s disease
  • 5 health benefits of fennel: reduces obesity, aids water retention, treats respiratory illnesses, improves memory and brain function, promotes eye health
  • 5 health benefits of carrots: improves vision, slows down aging, helps promote healthier skin, protects teeth and gums, may help prevent stroke

So really, there is no reason NOT to make, drink and enjoy this juice. 😉
