Fruit & Roots

The other morning, I was in dire need of a pick me up. And as much as I love green juices, I was in the mood for something tangy, spicy and bright. I had just bought a bunch of tangerines and decided to cold press (juice) them to add a few carrots, a piece of spicy ginger, a pinch of cayenne pepper and the wonder-root turmeric in order anti-inflame whatever requires anti-inflaming.

The result was exactly what I was looking for…and totally delicious. I think the key to this juice is using fresh turmeric root (which I find at NaturaSi organic grocery stores in Rome).

IMG_8059Ingredients:

4 tangerines
2 carrots
1 1-inch piece of fresh ginger root
1 ½ inch piece of fresh turmeric root
1 pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions:

Juice the first four ingredients, then add the cayenne. Mix well and serve.
*Note: health benefits of this juice include: anti-inflammatory agents, mega amounts of vitamin C, metabolism boosting, and a host of other essential phytonutrients. 😉
